GP Tutor Discussion on Marriage

More people in urbanized and modernized cities are seeing marriage as a less relevant notion of their lives as they face more allure and challenges from the modern lifestyle. Marriage is often seen as a stumbling block to their lives as many other aims of life take over as priority as many shun marriage as it often involves more sacrificing and dedication of resources although the young adults recognize the significance of the marriage as part of their life. It is paradoxical and complex as the pursuit of the perfect or blissful marriage for eternity happiness is not a simple journey to embark especially for those who are offered more opportunities in life or face more hindrances in life, marriage is not an option that they will want but desire.

Why do we need marriage? There are pros and cons to get married. We get solace, support and comfort from a marriage. Well, you get to form your small republic as you have children that you can consider people of your kingdom (don’t forget that this is a matriarch). Marriage offers longevity as what most scientists will prove and we cannot deny as the idea to stay healthy for yourself is motivated by the need to stay healthy for your family. The benefit of marriage but why many are still shunning it?

People who support singlehood are quick to point out that marriage is burdensome and arduous as it involves sacrifices that one has to make for their loved ones. The modern lifestyle simply does not support the notion of marriage as it is demanding our resources to adapt to the fast-paced and ever-changing development that will deprive the resources for us to make marriage a beautiful beginning and ending for us. We often hear couples quoting high cost of living, academic and career opportunities and other changing values and norms of modern society as to why they remain single. This will lead us to ponder if the notion of marriage does fit into the modern lifestyle.
